James Olsen – Business Intermediary
James holds a BA in Economics and History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a MA from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Architecture and Urban Planning.
James is responsible for business and project development as well as business brokerage at CBS. His expertise is in project development, design and project management.
He has a 35-year history of project and development in architecture and engineering. During his career, he spent 12 years as Vice President of Somerville, Inc., an architecture firm employing a staff of 35. Somerville, Inc. specialized in health care, education, and commercial and large government projects. While at Somerville, Inc., James tripled the size of the company and was responsible for more than a $1 billion in construction throughout the Midwest.
During the seven years that he ran his own development firm, James developed projects in housing and corporate offices and entertainment facilities. To date, he has worked with Mike Schwantes on numerous successful projects.
His professional experience is highly diverse and ranges from a strategic air command Air Force base project in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to numerous worthwhile public service projects. James was the head of the Green Bay Mayor’s design group and partnered with the superintendent of schools in Green Bay to develop a major park through the Joannes Park Neighborhood Initiative. This park was designed to be the centerpiece for a variety of schools in an area that had developed crime issues. James spearheaded this $50 million dollar redevelopment effort.
