Valley Scale Service originated in Wausau, Wisconsin in 1965, under the leadership of Ralph Bliese. The Bartow family of Manitowoc has purchased the Manitowoc Carpets Plus business from Robert Dedering. The sale was facilitated by local business broker John Foster with Creative Business Services / CBS- Global in November. Dedering had owned and operated the Carpets Plus store for nearly 25 years. In 2022 Dedering moved the business to a more visible location at 3315 Calumet Avenue.

After selling the business and moving in 1983, he kept a cottage in Fish Creek and visited as often as possible.

Jeff’s career took him around the country, and after taking a position with World Supply Corp., relocated back to the Chicago area. World Supply was an automotive aftermarket warehouse distributor serving Northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. WSC merged with General Parts, Inc. in 1991, where Jeff was the Vice President & General Manager. General Parts sold wholesale and retail under the banner of CARQUEST.

Jeff went on to become the President of the Midwest Region encompassing eight warehouse locations in 20 states. He was subsequently promoted to Vice President, Market Development nationally out of the corporate office in Raleigh, NC. He led the merger and acquisitions team nationally working on hundreds of acquisitions and bringing the store count to over 3,000 outlets.

General Parts was an employee-owned company with over 27,000 employees and was acquired by Advance Auto Parts in 2013 by a publicly NYSE company. At that time, Jeff retired and opened an automotive aftermarket consulting company and subsequently accepted the President position of a client, Kinetic Fuel Technology for four years. Since that time, he has continued working on various merger and acquisition opportunities.

During his time with Lapham-Hickey Steel, he held various management positions and retired as the Chief Commercial Officer and Executive Vice President. Among his responsibilities, he reviewed the proposed acquisition of businesses to add to the company’s profile of locations. Steve enjoyed this aspect of the business and after retiring, decided to stay active in the manufacturing, fabrication, steel, and distribution industry.

Over the years, Steve maintained a close relationship with Michael Schwantes, the Founder and CEO of CBS-Global/Creative Business Services, a mergers and acquisitions firm headquartered in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Viewing this relationship as a natural fit for his professional expertise and industry activity, Steve welcomed the opportunity to join the M&A firm.

Steve, along with seventeen other professionals, founded a community bank in Oshkosh, Wisconsin where he sat on the board of directors, and the credit, governance, and audit committees for thirteen years. This experience further provided Steve with the expertise he now utilizes as M&A Advisor.

Furthermore, Steve holds numerous positions on the board of directors within the manufacturing, fabrication, steel, and distribution industry, including the Fabrication Manufacturing Association (FMA), the Nuts, Bolts and Thingamajigs Foundation, as well as the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce. Square Rigger Lodge, a 2.4-acre lakeside resort with an expansive private beach for its guests, features a 19-room motel in addition to five cottages, a four-bedroom rental home, and a bar and restaurant.

The LeClair family initially built the motel in June of 1984. In 1986, the family purchased the Lake Breeze Motel and Cottages immediately to the south of their new motel. In 1987, the bar and restaurant opened specializing in Door County fare including what would become the famous Square Rigger Galley Fish Boil. In 1990, the LeClair family added the four-bedroom residence.

For the past several decades, Elizabeth “Little Bit” LeClair has earned the reputation of providing her “Door County Charm” to hundreds of repeat customers. Square Rigger Lodge was sold to a family group that has stayed on the property every year since the early 1960s. They plan is to attract new generations of guests while continuing to host those who, like themselves, have been vacationing there for decades. The Whistling Swan, the Door Peninsula's oldest operating inn, was originally built in Marinette, Wisconsin, in 1887. In 1907, it was moved across the ice of Green Bay by teams of horses to become part of Dr. and Mrs. Welcker's Resort and Casino. The inn, along with its other historic neighbors, has been designated part of the Welcker Historic District and is listed on both State and National Historic Register.

Today, the Whistling Swan Inn is known throughout Door County as one of the best inn and restaurants to rest and rejuvenate and it's also has been known to have the area’s most incredible cuisine, according to the new owner Amos Goaz. After nearly 10 years of ownership, Sue and Dick Govier have sold the Aqualand Ale House in Boulder Junction. Joel and Anne Miner, along with their son and daughter-in-law Taylor and Breanna Miner, purchased the property and business August 18, 2021.
